Tehama Workers’ Comp Lawyer: New Deputy Commissioner of Enforcement
Posted on Oct 17, 2013
Tehama workers’ compensation attorney welcomes a new deputy commissioner to the enforcement branch of the California Department of Insurance (CDI): Eric Weirich.
Weirich has a long career in law enforcement, starting with the security police squadron in the U.S. Air Force. In years prior to his new appointment, Weirich worked in civilian law enforcement—working as a police officer with the Vacaville Police Department and later as an investigator with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Since 1998, Weirich has worked with the CDI, starting out as a detective in the fraud division and later being promoted to sergeant, captain of the Benicia Regional offices, Northern California bureau chief, and chief of the fraud division.
Said Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones about the appointment, “I am extremely confident in Eric’s ability to lead the enforcement branch and advance our mission of insurance protection for all Californians. I am optimistic that Eric’s leadership skills and history of excellent service in law enforcement will be a valuable asset to the enforcement branch.”
In the 30 months between January 2011 and June 2013, the fraud division of CDI enforcement made 1,839 arrests; the investigation division 122—for 1,961 arrests, total.
