Q: What is the difference between a PTP and a Med Legal Doctor (AME/PQME)?
A:
Med-Legal doctors only provide their Medical Legal, professional opinion on what treatment you need, such as, Permanent and Stationary (P&S) date, Temporary Disability (TD) periods, apportionment, and whole person impairments. A primary treating physician (ptp) on the other hand does the actual treating and requests for authorization based on your medical needs and what the Med Legal doctor has opined you may still need addressed.
