Q:
The insurance company assigned me a nurse case manager. Do they have the right to go to my doctor's appointments with me?

A:

Technically no.  Do you feel that the Nurse Case Manager is being an advocate for you, or for the insurance carrier? If you feel they are helping in your best interest, then they can really aid in moving your medical treatment forward. However, if you feel they are interfering with your treatment in any way, then they have no right to be part of your case. If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the Nurse Case Manager being part of your claim, you can request that they no longer participate on your case, or you can ask your attorney to communicate that directly to the Nurse Case Manager for you.
